Above shows a foot gate created during the Cv19 lockdown. It has been five years from design to make, due to lack of time and the undertaking of customers commissions. I am pleased to showcase a piece that shows a Kelly Burton artist blacksmith style. Fored in mild steel and finished in a bronzed paint.

Above shows the before and after pictures of a bespoke set of gates. The gates needed to be straightened and a matching horse shoe forged. The customer decided to add some bygone artifacts from old pieces of farm equipment, along with stirrups and horse shoes from a beloved horse. The wheat was added to combine everything together into context. The keep-stays are also forged wheat to continue on the theme, along with a horse shoe latch. The gate was blasted, primed, zinced and coloured to ensure long lasting protection and durability to the outside elements.

Above shows a set of dragonfly inspired gates. They are each 9ft long to span the double driveway. Lots of intricate sections of steel interlock into one another to create an ease of movement. Individual dragonflies and butterflies have been incorporated (as well as a bumblebee on the latch), adding interest, and drawing your eye away from the practicality of the vertical bars.

Above shows a side gate decorated in acorns and an oak leaf, made to the customers design. The Oak leaf bolt adds a contemporary feel to a traditional gate. Gold has been added to the leaf edges to subtly catch the light, and mimic the gold painted acorns.

To the left is a decorative gate surround designed from a wheat form, with added interest. As you look more closely butterflies, dragonflies and tiny bees, are intricate details, flowing within the piece.

To the Right is a small version of the above 'Lockdown Gate'. It was a Maquette made for the Ferrous 24 exhibition in Hereford, where blacksmiths from all over the world exhibited their skills & craftmanship. 2024.
